Our staff is made up of locals who care about this place. A ranger who knows every trail. A gardener who gets kids in the dirt. A surf instructor raised in these waves. A marine biologist at the tide pools. Bird experts from the PRBO field station. Visiting artists and seasoned trip guides.

Our counselors are local teens, many of them former campers. They know the songs and the shortcuts. They’re trained in first aid and CPR before camp starts, and they take safety seriously. Mostly, they’re here to make sure every camper feels included and excited to come back tomorrow.

Kathy Bustamante

CO-director, Founder

Kathy founded Bolinas Stinson Summer Camp with a simple idea: kids should spend their summers outside, getting messy, making things, and building real friendships. A longtime local and lifelong advocate for hands-on learning, she has shaped the camp into a place that reflects the spirit of this community. Decades in, she’s still at it, making sure camp stays true to its roots.

Eliana Bustamante

Co-Director

Ellie grew up at this camp. She was a camper, then a counselor, and now helps lead the program alongside her mom. She brings deep local ties, fresh energy, and a strong commitment to keeping camp fun, safe, and grounded. For Ellie, this isn’t just a summer job, it’s home.

Outreach with Local Experts

Throughout the summer, we welcome rotating local experts for special days, workshops, and outings. These cameo guest guides share their skills and stories with our campers, and we feel incredibly lucky that so many talented community members give their time to support camp.
